Here’s a pattern I see constantly. Follow the rules. Then break them. Then eat more than you would have if the rules had never existed in the first place. Then start over on Monday.
If this is you, I want to say clearly: that’s not a willpower failure. That’s what deprivation does. The restriction builds pressure. The pressure eventually releases, and when it releases, it tends to go past where you originally intended.
The rules didn’t fail because you were weak. They failed because that’s what strict rules tend to produce when the real want underneath them was never actually addressed. No program corrects for that on its own. The structure itself is what produces the cycle.
I’m not telling you rules are bad. I’m telling you that if you’ve been on this loop for years, closer to a decade in some cases, the fix isn’t a stricter version of the same approach. It’s asking a different question than the one the rules were trying to answer.
We don’t need to keep doing it the old way. Nine or ten years of your brain being on food is enough experience to know that the rules alone were never going to be the thing that worked.
